WHAT

The IHC — Institute of Contemporary History (New University of Lisbon) has an open call for applicants for three Postdoctoral Research Fellowships.

TOPICS

Applicants must have completed their PhD degree in the three years prior to the application.The fellowship will have a maximum duration of three years. The project does not have to be limited to the study of the Portuguese historical reality or the study of the historical reality of Portuguese-speaking countries.

The specific topic of the project is to be defined by the fellows themselves in the research proposal to be included in the application, but it will have to be in one or more of the following fields: Economic and Social History; Economic History; History of Economic Thought; Political Economy. The project may also articulate the referred fields with others, namely: History of Social Movements; Environmental History; Science and Technology Studies.

APPLICATION

The call is open until the 20 November 2020.

Fellows will receive a monthly stipend (tax free) of 1600 EU.

Applications must be submitted via email to ihc.concursos@fcsh.unl.pt , with “IHC/04209/2020/BIPD” in the subject line, and with the following documents as PDF attachments:
1. Curriculum Vitae ;
2. BSc, MSc, and PhD certificates, including grades. Applicants that obtained their degrees outside of Portugal, must have all titles recognised in Portugal. In order to comply with Portuguese legislation concerning the recognition of foreign qualifications, all the rights inherent to PhD degree holders granted by foreign higher education institutions are duly recognised, subject to the presentation of proof of recognition of the degrees requested to the Vice-Chancellor of a public Portuguese University, to the Head of a public Polytechnic Institute or to the Director-General for Higher Education (process regulated by Decree Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August).
Applicats that have not had their titles recognised in Portugal yet will have their applications conditionally accepted. If the fellowship is awarded, the recognition of the degrees in Portugal must be completed when signing the contract.
3. Research proposal, organised according to the following sections and character limitations:
3.1. Title of the project/research plan (maximum 250 characters);
3.2. Abstract (maximum 1500 characters, including footnotes and final notes)
3.3. State of the art (maximum 3000 characters, including footnotes and final
notes)
3.4. Research plan and methodology (maximum 5000 characters, including footnotes and final notes)
3.5. Bibliographic references (maximum 30 references).
4. PhD thesis (it should be submitted as an attachment of via Google Drive link)
