What: Constructing America | Defining Europe: Perceptions of the Transatlantic Other, 1900-2000. International conference organized by TRANSATLANTIS research program, of Utrecht University.
When/Where: November 8-10, 2017, Utrecht.
Deadline: May 12, 2017. Answer by July 1st.
Topics: If on one side Trump’s first months show the cultural cleavage with Europe, on the other side the growth of an international populist and nationalist movement reminds that many similarities are following a transatlantic development. The conference aims to explore the evolution of reciprocal percetions of U.S.A. and Europe with regard to its differents elements: a general “americanization” of Europe, a more localized influence and this evolving relationship in the context of globalization. - Mass Media and Popular Culture
- Economics and Society
- Politics and Policy
